A guide for connection of  WILD instruments to computers via the Geo Serial Interface (GSI)

1 INTRODUCTION
The WILD Geo Serial Interface (GSI) is a general purpose serial data interface for the communication between the different WILD instruments and the communication between WILD instruments and a computer .

This manual describes the Operation of WILD Geodetic instruments for on-line Computer control via the GSI interface. A general description of the interface and its characteristics is given, as well as the possibilities for connection to a Computer system. Information specific to the separate WILD instruments is given in the corresponding appendix.

2 INTERFACE DESCRIPTION
2.1 General
The GSI interface is a general purpose asynchronous, half-duplex serial interface. It conforms to the RS232C communications standard with the exception of the voltage levels. All WILD instruments can be set to the default settings of the interface. Some instruments can be set to other values in addition to the standard parameters. Where applicable, these settings are described in the appendix corresponding to the instrument.
